UFC Is Not for Nancy Boys. Otherwise known as the ‘Ultimate Fighting Championship’ is the largest mixed martial arts promotion company in the world, which hosts most of the top-ranked fighters in the sport and produces events worldwide. The latest event in Australia for the Ultimate Fighting Championship was to be staged in Perth, but Brisbane steals it away after the event was rejected in Perth by Premier Colin Barnett.
Premier Colin Barnett’s perception of Mixed Martial Arts has been a grateful donation to the Brisbane tourism industry, with UFC Fight Night 33 taking place at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday 7th December in front of a live audience of approx 12,000 and an estimated worldwide television audience running into the millions (allegedly).
The fenced enclosure UFC fighting is banned in Victoria and Western Australia and legal in New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. Australian States Laws has to get these type of events sorted as far as all States agreeing on something for all states across the board?
In Queensland it has been approved as the state has no regulatory body for combat sports, however having hosted the UFC on the Gold Coast and now Brisbane, the fenced enclosure fighting is an established arena and looks like it will stay. Time will tell.
It’s definitely not for the faint hearted, and as we say UFC Is Not for Nancy Boys but combat sports like UFC are a growth market and that is giving it new recognition.
